  • Air India selects AMOS from Swiss-AS to manage maintenance, engineering and logistics across global fleet.
  • AMOS solution will bolster efficiency of aircraft operations for over 470 narrowbody and widebody aircraft by November 2024.
  • AMOS aligns with Air India’s “cloud only” infrastructure mandate.

Air India, India’s leading global airline, has selected Swiss-AS’ AMOS as an end-to-end maintenance, repair and overhaul (MRO) software solution to support high reliability of aircraft operations in view of the rapid growth in fleet and connectivity. Developed by Swiss AviationSoftware (Swiss-AS), the cloud-based AMOS solution with AMOSmobile will streamline maintenance logistics and compliance management for an expanding fleet of Airbus and Boeing aircraft following Air India’s historic order of 470 aircraft besides the 36 leased aircraft inducted into the fleet last year and the 70 Vistara aircraft to join Air India fleet by November 2024.

AMOS will manage the maintenance and engineering logistics of Air India’s fleet using real-time data regarding supplies and spare parts inventory, facility utilisation and resource allocation at engineering and maintenance facilities across Air India’s global network. The AMOSmobile/EXEC add-on solution will give line and base mechanics instant access to AMOS data. Using a mobile device, mechanics will be able to raise and record maintenance activities, view 3D graphics and videos and e-sign reports, creating a paperless digital workflow on the maintenance lines. AMOSmobile/STORES will provide a user-friendly solution to allow store men to perform their daily operations via mobile device, without the need to use AMOSdesktop or any paper document.

AMOScloud hosting services will further enhance the efficiency of Air India's maintenance, enabling Air India to manage maintenance activities across its expanding fleet with improved data access and integration, ensuring seamless collaboration between engineering teams and real-time updates on resource allocation. This cloud infrastructure is vital for handling the influx of new aircraft, enabling efficient planning and execution of maintenance activities with ease.

“We are honoured to welcome Air India to the AMOS Community and to partner on this strategic initiative to modernize and streamline their maintenance operations with AMOS. Our software is designed to support rapid fleet expansion and deliver operational excellence at scale. The flexibility and depth of AMOS will help ensure Air India's continued commitment to safety, reliability, and efficiency as they grow into a truly global airline,” said Fabiano Faccoli, CEO of Swiss AviationSoftware.

Prior experience of working with AMOS is enabling the Air India Engineering and Digital & Tech resources to accelerate both aircraft data migration process and the in-house AMOS training schedule. The first phase of AMOS implementation for the Air India group airlines, supporting 300 widebody and narrowbody aircraft, will go live in November 2024. The addition of Vistara’s 63 Airbus and 7 Boeing aircraft will be complete by the end of November.

“We are creating future-ready engineering at Air India, and AMOS will play a key role in this,” said Sisira Kanta Dash, Chief Technology Officer, Air India. “AMOS aligns with our ‘cloud-only’ infrastructure mandate and helps create a single source of truth for all engineering and maintenance activities and provides the flexibility to scale on demand.”

Air India’s AMOS solution will continue to scale as operations expand over the coming years to include new aircraft and facilities, including a state-of-the-art MRO facility at Kempegowda International Airport Bengaluru.

“Adoption of AMOS is a key part of the digital transformation of Air India by centralising management of all maintenance activities, planned and unplanned, and providing real-time visibility up and down the supply chain. But even more importantly, the AMOS solution will ultimately benefit our customers,” said Dr Satya Ramaswamy, Chief Digital and Technology Officer, Air India. “When we optimize real-time maintenance decisions and streamline maintenance activities, it leads to safe and reliable aircraft operations and faster aircraft turnaround times, which, in turn, is expected to result in on-time departures of flights.”
