SUM Air, a start-up airline based in South Korea, has gone live with AMOS, the leading maintenance and engineering solution from Swiss AviationSoftware (Swiss-AS), to support its first aircraft delivery and establish a scalable digital foundation for future growth from day one. With this implementation, SUM Air joins three other South Korean airlines in adopting AMOS to streamline maintenance operations, enhance efficiency, and enable sustainable expansion. This implementation highlights how start-up and growing airlines can rapidly deploy a proven digital platform to enable scalable operations from the outset.

By using AMOS, SUM Air can manage its maintenance and engineering processes through a fully integrated digital platform, giving full control over maintenance planning, real-time execution tracking, and compliance. These are critical capabilities for scaling operations without increasing complexity.

With the addition of AMOSmobile/EXEC, mechanics can access AMOS data on mobile devices, record maintenance tasks, view 3D graphics and videos, and e-sign reports, creating a fully digital, paperless workflow. AMOSmobile/STORES makes it easy for store personnel to manage inventory and daily operations from mobile devices without using desktop systems or paper forms. Together, these mobile tools eliminate paperwork, reduce turnaround times, and enable faster, data-driven decisions, helping SUM Air scale efficiently without adding operational overhead.

SUM Air currently operates one ATR 72 aircraft on domestic routes and is expected to continue expanding to international routes. AMOS provides the digital backbone to support this growth, enabling the airline to scale its fleet and operations in a controlled, efficient, and compliant manner.

For start-up airlines like SUM Air, the ability to quickly implement a fully integrated digital solution is essential. AMOS provides the flexibility, reliability and efficiency needed to support rapid growth while maintaining the highest standards of safety and operational readiness.

“We selected AMOS as the most powerful Maintenance Information System, with integrated modules and robust, reliable data tracking across routine and non-routine maintenance. Combined with AMOSmobile/EXEC and AMOSmobile/STORES, it enables a paperless environment, effective maintenance records, and greater flexibility for our teams.

As SUM Air grows its fleet in the coming years, AMOS provides the scalable, reliable system and operational stability needed to support our expansion, along with valuable guidance from the Swiss-AS specialists through implementation and daily operations.”

About SUM Air

SUM Air is a start-up airline based in South Korea, providing commercial air transport services with a focus on efficient, modern operations.

  • Serving markets and airports that existing full-service and low-cost carriers in Korea cannot access.
  • Starting domestic flights based in Gimpo and connecting regional cities with limited public transportation options, while expanding to exclusive airports using turboprop aircraft.
  • Taking over existing domestic routes currently operated at minimum capacity due to cost constraints faced by existing airline operators.

The airline manages its maintenance and engineering processes in compliance with industry standards and is committed to leveraging digital tools to support operational growth and fleet expansion. This includes engineering, procurement, storage management, asset management, and all maintenance activities, combined with AMOSmobile flexibility. SUM Air is also targeting paperless processes, robust maintenance records, data reliability, and environmentally friendly solutions in line with its operational policy.
