  • AMOSmobile/EXEC and AMOScloud enable efficient, mobile, and scalable M&E operations.

Swiss AviationSoftware (Swiss-AS) is pleased to announce that TAP Air Portugal (TAP) has gone live with AMOS in October 2024. This marks a significant milestone for Swiss-AS, reflecting five years of unwavering commitment and collaboration to bring this transformative solution to life for TAP.

The successful implementation of AMOS at TAP, including the Component Repair, Overhaul, and Manufacturing (CROM) modules, is testament to the resilience and dedication of both teams. The pandemic presented unforeseen challenges, but our joint efforts have resulted in a highly tailored solution that meets TAP's needs and streamlines their maintenance and engineering operations.

Enhanced Efficiency and Integrated Operations

Following the implementation of AMOS, TAP now has comprehensive process coverage, with only five of the 95 standard AMOS processes initially excluded from this scope. The new system replaces an impressive 39 legacy software systems previously used across TAP's operations, including both internally developed and third-party solutions. TAP now benefits from a unified platform that supports efficient, secure and scalable M&E processes.

"Deploying AMOS at TAP Air Portugal sends a clear message to the market that we are ready to innovate and move forward," said José Moreira, Project Sponsor and TAP's M&E General Director. "This is a significant move for us, and we're pleased to be starting this new chapter in collaboration with Swiss-AS."

Key Highlights of TAP’s AMOS Implementation

  • Seamless System Integration: AMOS now manages a wide range of TAP’s operations, effectively consolidating 39 systems into one integrated platform.
  • High User Adoption: AMOS already supports over 600 concurrent users within TAP, thereby enhancing real-time collaboration and operational efficiency.
  • Robust Operations: The system efficiently manages thousands of work orders, work packages, and component tasks are efficiently managed, ensuring continuous operational readiness.

Pioneering the New CROM Modules

TAP is the first airline to implement the new CROM modules, which have been developed to facilitate the repair, overhaul, and manufacturing of components for TAP's M&E operations. CROM was developed in collaboration with TAP and other members of the AMOS Community. It provides an optimised solution for component shops, streamlining complex workflows with precision and flexibility.

The deployment of CROM reflects TAP’s commitment to operational best practice and highlights the valuable role they played in shaping its capabilities through continuous feedback, testing, and collaboration.

“We are immensely grateful to the TAP Go-Live onsite team and the many departments within Swiss-AS whose dedication has been key to this milestone. Each member’s contribution has brought us closer to this achievement, and we look forward to a successful and enduring partnership with TAP,” said Paulo Perine, Team Leader Business Consulting at Swiss-AS and Project Manager for the TAP implementation.

Enhanced Mobility and Efficiency with AMOSmro and AMOSmobile/EXEC

TAP Air Portugal has implemented the AMOSmro edition, which has been specifically designed to support maintenance, repair, and overhaul (MRO) operations. This edition extends AMOS's capabilities beyond traditional airline maintenance, enabling comprehensive MRO functions and allowing the airline to efficiently manage third-party maintenance projects alongside its own fleet operations. AMOSmro enables TAP to streamline the management of complex work packages, optimise resource planning and provide detailed tracking for customer projects.

TAP has furthermore deployed AMOSmobile/EXEC, the mobile extension of AMOS specifically designed for maintenance execution. AMOSmobile/EXEC provides TAP's technicians and engineers with mobile access to AMOS data, enabling them to perform tasks directly on-site, from inspections and work orders to parts management and maintenance history reviews. This mobile access increases productivity by allowing TAP's workforce to access real-time information, reducing downtime and enhancing overall service efficiency.

Scalable, Secure Operations in the Cloud with AMOScloud SaaS

As part of its modernisation programme, TAP has opted for the AMOScloud hosting solution, adopting Swiss-AS's Software as a Service (SaaS) model. By leveraging AMOScloud, TAP gains the advantages of cloud-based scalability, security, and continuous updates.

The key advantages of AMOScloud for TAP include:

  • Scalability and flexibility: AMOScloud enables TAP to adapt its M&E operations in line with evolving business requirements, facilitating greater flexibility and resource optimisation.
  • Enhanced data security: TAP benefits from Swiss-AS's state-of-the-art cloud infrastructure, which provides advanced security protocols to ensure data integrity and regulatory compliance.
  • Cost-effectiveness: AMOScloud reduces the necessity for on-premises hardware, thereby lowering maintenance costs and enabling TAP's IT resources to be allocated to core initiatives.

Looking Ahead

Swiss-AS is pleased to be supporting TAP on its innovative journey, providing an integrated solution that aligns with their ambitious growth and operational goals. We are delighted to see the long-term impact of AMOS and CROM as they drive TAP's next phase of growth and operational excellence in the M&E sector.
